The Pines Restaurant

THE PINES -- A Family Restaurant

The Pines...Locally Owned and Operated Since 1950 -- thanks to the families we are privileged to serve!

The Pines tradition started in the 40's when Harold and Margaret Hall hosted a variety of receptions and dinner parties in their home. Margaret was well known among locals for her exception home-cooking and friendly nature. After serving in their home for several years, the Hall's decided to open their own restaurant.

WWII was over and Camp Atterbury no longer had a need for the four octagon-shaped guard houses used to secure the perimeter of the old prisoner of war camp. Early spring of 1950, Harold purchased the four bulletproof buildings and moved them to Seymour, joining them as one under a grove of pine trees that bordered the Hall's apple orchard.

In that grove of pine trees for many years to come, Margaret continued the tradition of serving favorite recipes to local patrons and hungry travelers that frequented US 31.

Today, the third generation of the Hall family is still carrying on that tradition; serving those same home-cooked recipes that Harold and Margaret served almost a half-century ago.

Patrons of The Pines experience a tradition in many homemade salads, soups and hot entrees on the salad bar and smorgasbord. The Pines tradition lives on...serving patrons a fine taste of Hoosier cooking.
